Overview

Own the operations of the Laboratory's enterprise classified networks, supporting mission-critical systems in Lexington, MA. You will join a team of network engineers managing a complex infrastructure of routers, switches, firewalls, and servers in a secure, classified environment. This 36-month contract offers the chance to work with Cisco and Juniper technologies, ensuring high availability and security. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams and grow your expertise in network security and troubleshooting, with a direct impact on national security missions.

What You'll Do8

  • 1Configure and maintain Cisco and Juniper routers and switches to ensure optimal performance and security.
  • 2Manage firewall rules and policies using Palo Alto and Fortinet devices to protect classified network boundaries.
  • 3Deploy and maintain network monitoring tools such as SolarWinds and Nagios to track system health and performance.
  • 4Troubleshoot network issues, performing root cause analysis with Wireshark and resolving incidents within SLA.
  • 5Implement network changes following ITIL change management processes, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
  • 6Collaborate with the security team to enforce NIST 800-53 controls and maintain compliance.
  • 7Document network configurations and maintain up-to-date diagrams using Visio.
  • 8Support the integration of new network segments and the expansion of existing infrastructure.

Requirements9

  • 15+ years of hands-on experience in network engineering, with Cisco or Juniper certifications (CCNA, CCNP, JNCIA) preferred.
  • 2Active security clearance (Secret or Top Secret) is required.
  • 3Proficiency in configuring and troubleshooting BGP, OSPF, and MPLS protocols.
  • 4Hands-on experience with Cisco and Juniper routers and switches in an enterprise environment.
  • 5Experience with firewall management, specifically Palo Alto and Fortinet devices.
  • 6Strong knowledge of network security principles, including VLANs, VPNs, and ACLs.
  • 7Familiarity with network monitoring tools like SolarWinds or Nagios.
  • 8Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced, mission-critical environment.
  • 9Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, or equivalent experience.
