Overview

You will architect and secure network infrastructures for a Department of War customer in the DC metro area. This role demands hands-on expertise with Palo Alto firewalls and Cisco switching, managing hybrid multi-location operations. You'll mentor junior engineers while designing VPN connectivity and firewall policies. Working with an elite team, you'll solve complex network issues and drive automation for proactive systems management.

What You'll Do9

  • 1Design and integrate compute, storage, security, and cloud access into network architectures for critical systems.
  • 2Refine and finalize network designs directly with customers to meet mission requirements.
  • 3Mentor junior staff in network engineering and design, fostering skill growth and team development.
  • 4Troubleshoot complex network issues, performing incident analysis to determine root cause and implement solutions.
  • 5Design and enforce firewall policies using Palo Alto Panorama to secure against external and internal threats.
  • 6Maintain and document VPN connectivity for partners and vendors, ensuring secure access.
  • 7Monitor firewall logs and alerts, resolving security incidents and documenting remediation steps.
  • 8Lead automation and process improvements for greater efficiency, reduced incidents, and proactive systems management.
  • 9Support full lifecycle of tickets, incidents, service requests, and problems, with health and performance reporting.

Requirements8

  • 1Bachelor's degree and 8+ years experience, or associate's degree and 10+ years experience.
  • 2Hands-on experience with Palo Alto firewall solutions and security hardening configurations.
  • 3Experience with Palo Alto Panorama for centralized management of PANOS firewalls.
  • 4Demonstrated expertise with networking and switching protocols and infrastructure services.
  • 5Familiarity with ticketing systems and documentation best practices.
  • 6US Citizen eligible for DoW Secret clearance.
  • 7Cisco Certified CCNA certification.
  • 8Baseline 8140 certification (IAT Level II): CCNA-Security, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, Security+ CE, CND, or SSCP.
