Network Security Administrator - Palo Alto Firewalls
Overview
You will own the security posture of a Denver-based network, defending against threats across Palo Alto firewalls. You'll join a tight-knit team of engineers and report directly to the security lead. This 10-month contract offers you a chance to harden enterprise infrastructure with Cisco and Juniper gear, with a clear path to permanent hire.
What You'll Do8
- 1Configure and maintain Palo Alto next-generation firewalls to enforce zero-trust access policies.
- 2Monitor network traffic and security logs, using Splunk and SolarWinds to detect anomalies.
- 3Deploy firewall rule changes and update IPS signatures for new vulnerabilities.
- 4Lead incident response for network security events, containing breaches and documenting root causes.
- 5Automate threat intel feeds with Python scripts to block malicious IPs.
- 6Design and enforce VPN access for remote users via Cisco AnyConnect.
- 7Coordinate with network admins to segment traffic and reduce attack surface.
- 8Audit firewall configs monthly and report on compliance gaps to management.
Requirements8
- 13+ years hands-on with Palo Alto firewalls including Panorama management.
- 2Solid knowledge of TCP/IP, VLANs, and routing protocols like BGP and OSPF.
- 32+ years using Splunk for log analysis and alert tuning.
- 4Hands-on with Cisco ASA and Juniper SRX for hybrid environments.
- 5Experience with Python scripting for automation and API integration.
- 6Familiarity with NIST and ISO 27001 frameworks.
- 7CCNA Security or PCNSA certification preferred.
- 8Proven track record in a 24/7 mission-critical network environment.
