Network Security Administrator, Firewalls & Compliance
Overview
You will administer network security for multiple state agencies, owning firewall operations and compliance. You will manage Cisco ASA and Palo Alto firewalls, execute service requests, and lead hardware refreshes. Your work ensures alignment with IRS, FBI, and CJI standards. This role includes on-call rotation and after-hours maintenance. You will modernize infrastructure and mitigate operational challenges.
What You'll Do9
- 1Review and execute Firewall Service Requests (FSRs), break-fix tickets, and formal change requests within 24 hours.
- 2Decommission End-of-Life (EOL) hardware and lead refresh cycles for Palo Alto and Cisco ASA devices.
- 3Configure and manage firewall zones, security policies, S2S VPN, and NAT on Palo Alto firewalls.
- 4Troubleshoot and manage rules on Cisco ASA firewalls to support agency connectivity.
- 5Implement security controls to maintain IRS, FBI, and CJI compliance across agencies.
- 6Participate in weekly on-call rotation to resolve after-hours incidents.
- 7Perform scheduled maintenance windows for firewall updates and emergency changes.
- 8Document firewall changes and maintain configuration backups.
- 9Collaborate with state IT teams to align network infrastructure with security best practices.
Requirements6
- 15+ years administering Palo Alto firewalls, including zones, security policies, S2S VPN, NAT, and threat prevention.
- 25+ years configuring and troubleshooting Cisco ASA firewalls, including rule management.
- 33-5 years of general networking knowledge: routing protocols, subnetting, and the OSI model.
- 4Experience executing firewall service requests and change management processes.
- 5Ability to pass criminal, financial, and drug background checks.
- 6Availability for 40 hours/week plus on-call rotation and after-hours maintenance.
Salary Insight
$146 - $156k per year
