Senior Industrial Hygiene Project Manager, NYC & Environmental Compliance
Overview
Industrial Hygiene leadership role overseeing complex field assignments across asbestos lead mold and general IH exposure assessments in the NYC metro area. You will lead on-site activities mentor staff and ensure compliance with OSHA EPA and state regulations on major projects. This role combines technical expertise with client liaison responsibilities and site leadership to deliver high-quality IH outcomes. The team includes junior and mid-level technicians and the project management function.
What You'll Do10
- 1Lead and execute high-risk field assignments including asbestos, lead paint, mold and industrial hygiene exposure assessments
- 2Serve as lead site technician and on-site liaison for large-scale projects ensuring alignment with scope and regulatory requirements
- 3Conduct and document site investigations risk assessments and final clearance inspections with minimal oversight
- 4Perform initial quality review of field data photographs and chain-of-custody forms for accuracy and compliance
- 5Draft highly technical field reports data summaries and regulatory compliance documents for final review by the Project Manager or CIH
- 6Provide on-the-job mentorship and technical training on advanced sampling techniques abatement procedures and regulatory interpretation
- 7Maintain calibrate and troubleshoot IH monitoring equipment
- 8Ensure rigorous compliance with OSHA EPA and local EHS regulations on all projects
- 9Coordinate and participate in off-hours and extended shifts as necessary
- 10Support business development and client communications in coordination with project leadership
Requirements14
- 1High School diploma required; AS or BS in Industrial Hygiene Environmental Science Safety or related field strongly preferred
- 27+ years of dedicated field monitoring and inspections experience in asbestos lead paint mold and general IH
- 3Advanced IH certifications mandatory including NYSDOL Asbestos Project Monitor and Air Sampling Technician (AHERA preferred) and NYSDOL Mold Assessor
- 4NJ/EPA/NY Lead Risk Assessor/Inspector or equivalent advanced accreditation
- 5NYC DEP Asbestos Investigator
- 6Expert working knowledge of federal state and local IH/EHS regulations (OSHA EPA NYCDEP NYSDOL)
- 7Ability to write clear technically accurate field reports and mentor juniors
- 8Available for site coverage for off-hours and extended shifts
- 9Must pass physical exam and be medically cleared to wear negative pressure respirator
- 10Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record
- 11Pre-employment drug test and DOT-regulated random testing
- 12Preferred OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER certification and additional accreditations (Asbestos Project Designer/Supervisor)
- 13Pursuit of CIH or CSP certifications is a plus
