Overview

You will own electrical systems for our floating PWR reactors from concept through commissioning, shaping the power and control architecture of a groundbreaking marine SMR. Working directly with the Mechanical, Software, Core Design, and Licensing teams, you will design, build, and validate hardware that meets safety-critical standards. This role puts you at the center of the reactor's nervous system, with 5+ years of hands-on experience expected. You will make build vs. buy decisions that directly impact cost, reliability, and deployment speed, helping democratize nuclear energy.

What You'll Do7

  • 1Own electrical systems from concept through commissioning, including design trades, requirements, and hardware bring-up.
  • 2Develop schematics, wiring diagrams, and data acquisition systems for PWR instrumentation and control.
  • 3Collaborate with Mechanical, Software, Core Design, and Quality teams to integrate electrical systems into the reactor design.
  • 4Work with Licensing to define design basis, including fail-safe architecture, diversity, and redundancy.
  • 5Support hazard analysis by identifying failure modes, safe states, and mitigations.
  • 6Drive HITL, validation, and integration test campaigns to prove system performance.
  • 7Design new hardware and processes to improve safety, cut costs, and shorten manufacturing timelines.

Requirements8

  • 15+ years hands-on experience building and troubleshooting complex electronic systems.
  • 2Familiarity with fault-tolerant, safety-critical, or autonomous systems.
  • 3Hands-on experience across multiple electrical domains: instrumentation, sensing, power, controls, networking, computing, and data acquisition.
  • 4Proficiency with lab tools: oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies, and signal generators.
  • 5Ability to think through failure modes and safe states from first principles.
  • 6Track record of working independently and driving tasks to completion with minimal direction.
  • 7Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • 8Degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, physics, or related field.
