You will own database administration for a hybrid environment in Charlotte, NC, supporting critical systems across PostgreSQL and MSSQL at the 12+ years experience level. What You'll Do8
- 1Administer and maintain production databases on PostgreSQL and MSSQL to ensure high availability and performance.
- 2Tune database performance using pg_stat_statements, DTA, and query optimization techniques.
- 3Design and implement backup, recovery, and failover strategies on Amazon RDS/Aurora.
- 4Drive database migrations and upgrades to Aurora PostgreSQL with minimal downtime.
- 5Automate routine tasks using Python or Ansible to improve operational efficiency.
- 6Monitor database health, implement proactive alerts, and resolve incidents within SLAs.
- 7Collaborate with developers to optimize SQL queries and schema designs for MSSQL and PostgreSQL.
- 8Lead database capacity planning and resource scaling to support growing workloads.
Requirements8
- 112+ years administering PostgreSQL and MSSQL in production environments.
- 2Strong expertise with Amazon RDS and Aurora PostgreSQL including replication and failover.
- 3Proven experience in database performance tuning, indexing, and query optimization.
- 4Deep knowledge of backup and recovery techniques for both PostgreSQL and MSSQL.
- 5Hands-on experience with CloudWatch, Terraform, and Git for infrastructure as code.
- 6Ability to write and debug complex SQL and PL/pgSQL procedures.
- 7Experience with high-availability solutions such as Patroni and Always On.
- 8Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field preferred.
