Senior PostgreSQL Database Administrator - Secure Mission Critical Systems
Overview
We seek a Senior PostgreSQL Database Administrator to lead design and administration of secure highly available PostgreSQL environments. This role drives database architecture scaling and supports mission critical systems. The ideal candidate will architect high availability disaster recovery and optimize performance while collaborating with cross functional teams.
What You'll Do11
- 1Design Build and maintain highly available scalable PostgreSQL database environments
- 2Architect and implement database high availability and disaster recovery solutions
- 3Perform advanced database administration tasks including installation configuration upgrades patching and migration of PostgreSQL clusters
- 4Monitor and tune database performance through query optimization index strategy memory and storage configuration
- 5Implement and enforce database security best practices
- 6Develop backup and recovery strategies meeting RPO RTO objectives with regular testing and documentation
- 7Collaborate with application development and DevOps teams to support schema design and data modeling
- 8Support provisioning configuration management and operational workflows for databases
- 9Troubleshoot complex database incidents and perform root cause analysis
- 10Create maintain and communicate database standards best practices and operational procedures
- 11Provide technical guidance and mentoring on PostgreSQL usage data access patterns and performance optimization
Requirements10
- 1Active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility
- 2Bachelor’s degree in a technology discipline and minimum 5 years relevant experience
- 3Significant hands-on experience designing deploying operating and maintaining PostgreSQL databases in enterprise environments
- 4Strong experience with PostgreSQL installation configuration and lifecycle management across multiple environments
- 5Proven expertise in high availability and disaster recovery practices
- 6Solid understanding of database security principles
- 7Experience integrating PostgreSQL into DevOps/DevSecOps workflows including automation of backups monitoring and maintenance
- 8DoD 8140 IAT II compliant certification
- 9Strong problem solving skills and ability to design scalable reliable and secure database solutions
- 10Minimum 40 weekly scheduled hours with less than 10 percent telecommuting requirement
