Senior Aircraft Missile Systems Engineer
Overview
Lead the development of next generation hypersonic capabilities as part of the NRL/ONR FLASH program. This role centers on shaping advanced hypersonic vehicle systems through systems engineering across its full lifecycle. The ideal candidate drives multidisciplinary efforts to define performance requirements integrate complex aerospace subsystems and deliver successful flight system demonstrations. Onsite at the NRL in Washington DC you will collaborate directly with government scientists program managers and SETA personnel.
What You'll Do5
- 1Serve as a key member of the systems engineering team leading specification and oversight of hypersonic vehicle procurement or construction
- 2Develop and manage Technical Performance Metrics budgets and KPPs to define and monitor vehicle development including airworthiness navigation control and stability requirements
- 3Collaborate with aerodynamicists to define Design Reference Missions evaluating vehicle performance and guiding system design
- 4Work with Intelligence Community partners to assess system capabilities against adversary systems adjusting requirements for operational overmatch
- 5Advise Program Management the customer and SETAs on system risks maturation progress and technical issues throughout development
Requirements6
- 1Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering plus 20 years or more of systems engineering experience US Citizenship with ability to obtain and maintain a government security clearance
- 2Hands-on experience with hypersonics or established relationships at NAVAIR or NAVSEA
- 3Proficiency in GNC systems actuator technologies power systems telemetry and flight test instrumentation
- 4Active secret clearance preferred
- 5Background in high-speed aerodynamics aerothermal analysis or vehicle integration
- 6Experience with digital engineering modeling simulation environments and system level performance modeling
