Lead Avionics Engineer Hypersonic Vehicles
Overview
You will lead the design, analysis, and testing of electrical systems for hypersonic vehicles, owning the full lifecycle from requirements to flight. You will drive system trades, component selection, and schematic capture while mentoring junior engineers. Collaboration with multidisciplinary teams ensures safe and efficient operation of the electrical systems. What You'll Do7
- 1Lead technical efforts across the avionics team, managing risk and change across the program, and mentor less senior engineers.
- 2Drive system trades, requirements capture, component selection, analysis, schematic capture, prototyping, bring-up, debugging, documentation, manufacturing, and test.
- 3Create development and qualification testing campaigns, exercising designs to their limits with LabVIEW and Python.
- 4Support hardware through production, integration, and flight test campaigns.
- 5Collaborate with experts from other teams to improve system efficiency, manufacturability, and reliability.
- 6Challenge assumptions and build strong professional relationships to foster innovation.
- 7Own the design of electrical power distribution systems, including DC power networks with batteries and motors.
Requirements10
- 1Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
- 25+ years of experience in electrical hardware design, control systems, instrumentation, digital communication busses, analog design, power electronics, or harness design.
- 31+ years leading a technical engineering team.
- 4Hands-on experience with embedded design, device integration, V&V, environmental qualification, or flight testing.
- 5Familiarity with test tools like DMM, Oscilloscope, power supplies, SPICE, and Ansys.
- 6Experience with design tools: Altium Designer, Siemens NX, Teamcenter, Capital Harness, and Git.
- 7Knowledge of avionics protocols: RS-485, ARINC-685, FPGAs, GPS, INS, and D38999 connectors.
- 8Familiarity with aerospace standards: IPC-620, MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-704, MIL-HDBK-516C, MIL-STD-464D, DO-160G.
- 9Experience with DC power systems including batteries, motors, and generators.
- 10Ability to travel on short notice for test campaigns.
