Overview

Own the design, development, and testing of avionics systems for spacecraft at Firefly Aerospace. You will define the electrical architecture, lead component-level and system-level test campaigns, and support integration from bench to launch. Collaborating with software, mechanical, propulsion, and structures teams, you will ensure the integrated vehicle functions flawlessly on the ground and in orbit. This role demands hands-on electrical engineering with Python and strong analog and digital fundamentals. You will also drive hardware-in-the-loop verification and contribute to launch day and on-orbit operations, making a direct impact on missions to the Moon and beyond.

What You'll Do8

  • 1Design the electrical architecture for spacecraft avionics, from concept through flight hardware.
  • 2Integrate avionics components onto the spacecraft, supporting AIT, launch integration, and on-orbit operations.
  • 3Direct assembly and test operations, translating design intent into precise procedures.
  • 4Write and execute vehicle assembly procedures and electrical system functional validation tests.
  • 5Lead the functional design of avionics systems for current and future spacecraft, including Python-based tooling.
  • 6Develop design verification, qualification, and acceptance test plans, coordinating with cross-functional teams.
  • 7Recommend spacecraft reliability upgrades based on test data and operational experience.
  • 8Own requirement writing and verification for avionics subsystems, ensuring traceability from design to test.

Requirements9

  • 13+ years of experience in aerospace component development, testing, integration, or operations.
  • 2Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BS) or equivalent.
  • 3Strong analog and digital circuit design, including use of oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and signal generators.
  • 4Hands-on experience with circuit prototyping and testing, including interpreting electrical schematics.
  • 5Experience performing trade studies to select optimal architecture options.
  • 6Proficiency in technical writing, documentation, and SOP creation.
  • 7Proactive self-starter with a proven ability to drive tasks to completion.
  • 8Experience with Python for test automation or data analysis.
  • 9U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, or eligible for ITAR clearance.
