Avionics Test Engineer Impulse Space
Overview
Lead development and execution of comprehensive test systems for flight electrical hardware across spacecraft development lifecycle. Own end-to-end validation processes from component validation through production integration while collaborating cross-functionally to enhance avionics ecosystem reliability.
What You'll Do7
- 1Develop end-to-end test systems that validate flight electrical hardware including circuit boards optical devices and electromechanical assemblies
- 2Own setup operation and troubleshooting of electrical test equipment and ground support hardware
- 3Create automated testing solutions to collect analyze and document test data
- 4Build and maintain test systems racks and setups for component level and integrated testbeds
- 5Provide feedback to design engineers to improve Impulse’s overall avionics ecosystem
- 6Collaborate with avionics propulsion GNC software and integration engineers to verify complete test coverage
- 7Support launch site activities by traveling with spacecraft and conducting pre-launch tests
Requirements13
- 1Bachelor’s degree in any relevant engineering field
- 22+ years of demonstrated experience testing electrical systems
- 3Proficiency in circuit board design using Altium Designer
- 4Experience designing and owning test systems from concept to implementation
- 5Comfortable working with design engineers to anticipate and derive test requirements for under-defined systems
- 6Strong organizational skills with ability to lead meetings plan projects and communicate decisions/rationales
- 75+ years of demonstrated experience working on a vehicle project of any kind
- 8Experience designing test stands and/or hardware racks
- 9Experience designing tests for a production environment
- 10Working with NI hardware such as cRIO cDAQ
- 11Safely operating hazardous systems including high voltage high pressure systems
- 12Familiarity with spacecraft systems and test campaigns
- 13Demonstrated success in root cause and/or failure analysis
