What You'll Do10
- 1Support LPBF DED and related metal additive manufacturing experiments for carbon nanomaterial-infused aluminum and copper systems
- 2Prepare builds define layouts support orientation and design-for-additive-manufacturing decisions
- 3Develop and refine print parameters scan strategies thermal management approaches and process recipes
- 4Handle powder and feedstock, build setup machine operation sample removal post-processing and documentation
- 5Diagnose print defects including porosity cracking distortion poor bonding surface quality and inconsistent outcomes
- 6Partner with nanomaterials process and testing teams to connect parameters to performance metrics
- 7Maintain fixture designs CAD files build records process travelers test plans and experiment summaries
- 8Support DOE-style experimentation repeatability studies and root-cause investigations
- 9Collaborate with vendors machine shops and external labs to keep experiments moving
- 10Provide strong technical documentation including build notes test plans and experimental summaries
Requirements11
- 1BS MS or PhD in mechanical engineering materials science manufacturing engineering welding engineering metallurgical engineering physics or related field
- 22+ years hands-on experience in additive manufacturing metal processing powder metallurgy laser processing welding or metal AM post-processing
- 3Experience with LPBF DED WAAM or similar processes
- 4Familiarity with aluminum copper conductors metal matrix composites or non-standard material systems
- 5Proficiency with AM build preparation tools CAD slicing support generation scan strategy setup or print simulation
- 6Experience with powder handling feedstock preparation post-processing sample preparation or materials characterization
- 7Knowledge of DOE statistical analysis root-cause analysis or process optimization
- 8Worked in startup research lab advanced manufacturing or hardware development environments
- 9Strong technical documentation skills clear communication and ability to troubleshoot problems
- 10High ownership attention to detail and comfort in fast-moving startup environment
- 11Preference for experience with LPBF DED metal additive manufacturing or similar
