Overview
Take ownership of Dell EMC PowerFlex storage systems in a large enterprise environment, ensuring reliable and secure storage services for critical applications. You will work closely with infrastructure and operations teams, driving performance, uptime, and capacity planning. This onsite contract role in Elk Grove, Sacramento CA focuses on hands-on engineering, proactive troubleshooting, and seamless upgrades. You will directly influence storage stability across the organization, with access to enterprise-scale systems and collaborative teams.
What You'll Do8
- 1Monitor PowerFlex and ScaleIO cluster health, performance, and capacity, tuning configurations to meet service-level targets.
- 2Troubleshoot storage performance issues, I/O bottlenecks, and hardware faults, resolving incidents within defined SLAs.
- 3Plan and execute PowerFlex software upgrades and patches across storage nodes, ensuring zero downtime for business-critical workloads.
- 4Provision storage volumes, manage snapshots, and maintain replication policies to support backup and disaster recovery strategies.
- 5Automate routine storage tasks using PowerFlex REST API, Python, or PowerShell scripts to reduce manual effort and errors.
- 6Collaborate with network, compute, and virtualization teams to optimize end-to-end storage performance and integration with VMware environments.
- 7Document system configurations, change requests, and troubleshooting runbooks, enabling consistent operational practices.
- 8Drive root cause analysis for recurring storage incidents, implementing preventive measures to minimize future disruptions.
Requirements8
- 13+ years administering Dell EMC PowerFlex or ScaleIO in enterprise production environments.
- 25+ years overall experience in storage administration, including SAN, NAS, and software-defined storage solutions.
- 3Hands-on experience with PowerFlex installation, configuration, and expansion of storage pools and protection domains.
- 4Strong knowledge of block storage protocols (iSCSI, Fibre Channel) and integration with VMware vSphere and Kubernetes.
- 5Proven ability to troubleshoot storage performance using tools like Dell EMC Solutions Enabler or PowerFlex CLI.
- 6Experience with automation using Python, PowerShell, or Ansible for storage provisioning and monitoring.
- 7Familiarity with storage monitoring and alerting platforms such as Dell EMC CloudIQ or Nagios.
- 8Strong written and verbal communication, with experience creating technical documentation for complex environments.
