Overview

As a Sanitation Worker, you will own the cleanliness and sanitation of all production equipment, facilities, and work areas at a family-owned food manufacturing plant in San Francisco. You will ensure full compliance with SSOPs, GMPs, and federal, state, and local food protection standards. Your work keeps the production line safe and audit-ready every single shift. You will operate equipment like Multivac, Grinder, Mixer, and X-ray/Metal Detector after training, and work closely with the Sanitation Supervisor to report hazards and equipment issues promptly.

What You'll Do10

  • 1Cleanse and sanitize all production equipment, facilities, and work areas in accordance with SSOPs and company standards.
  • 2Follow all food safety, sanitation, and occupational safety protocols as trained, including proper use of PPE.
  • 3Inspect work areas for unsanitary practices and conditions and report findings to the Sanitation Supervisor.
  • 4Operate production-related equipment such as Mixer, Chopper, Stuffer, Grinder, Multivac, and X-ray/Metal Detector safely and effectively after authorized training.
  • 5Apply industrial sanitation chemicals correctly and safely per established guidelines.
  • 6Operate electric pallet jacks after certification and approval by the Plant Manager.
  • 7Maintain compliance with GMP, safety standards, HR policies, and company policies at all times.
  • 8Report equipment malfunctions, sanitation concerns, or safety hazards to the Sanitation Supervisor promptly.
  • 9Assist receiving and smokehouse departments with sanitation needs as directed.
  • 10Perform other duties as required, assigned, or requested.

Requirements11

  • 11+ years of experience in sanitation or food manufacturing preferred, but not required.
  • 2Ability to read and speak English; Spanish is a plus.
  • 3Ability to work in a cold environment constantly (approximately 30°F to 40°F).
  • 4Ability to climb ladders, steps, and stairs occasionally.
  • 5Ability to bend, squat, and kneel occasionally to move up to 40 lbs..
  • 6Ability to push and pull up to 50 lbs., and push/pull carts/racks up to 600 lbs..
  • 7Ability to reach above the head frequently and maintain repetitive motions constantly.
  • 8Ability to stand on feet constantly.
  • 9Ability to pull pallet jacks containing up to 2,000 lbs. of cargo individually or with help.
  • 10Ability to frequently grasp, torque, and pinch groups of sausages up to 1 lb. using each hand.
  • 11Willingness to work weekends and overtime with little prior notice, with shifts starting as early as 3:30 PM.
