Overview
You lead nightly sanitation operations in a food manufacturing facility, ensuring all activities meet GMP and SSOP standards. You oversee a team of sanitation workers on a third-shift schedule, coordinate with Maintenance and Operations, and drive compliance through rigorous inspections and documentation. What You'll Do15
- 1Monitor nightly sanitation activities and conduct visual inspections to confirm all areas meet cleanliness and safety standards.
- 2Oversee pre-operational inspections, verifying equipment and production areas comply with SSOP requirements before startup.
- 3Implement corporate sanitation policies and procedures across the facility.
- 4Maintain the master sanitation schedule and develop procedures for new equipment.
- 5Coordinate sanitation needs with Maintenance and Operations to support production startups, shutdowns, and changeovers.
- 6Manage shift schedules for the sanitation team, including assignments, training, breaks, and coverage.
- 7Conduct performance reviews for new hires and provide ongoing feedback.
- 8Coordinate production startups, shutdowns, and changeovers to align sanitation with production requirements.
- 9Communicate staffing needs with Human Resources to support recruitment and scheduling.
- 10Lead shift meetings to discuss safety, performance expectations, and operational priorities.
- 11Ensure proper completion, documentation, and filing of sanitation records per company and regulatory requirements.
- 12Act as backup for supervised employees, assisting with hands-on sanitation tasks when needed.
- 13Maintain regular communication with supervisors, the Quality Manager, and the Managing Director to align activities with quality goals.
- 14Enforce regulatory standards, GMPs, and SSOPs through consistent oversight and corrective actions.
- 15Train, guide, and coach sanitation personnel on procedures, equipment safety, and performance standards.
Requirements12
- 13-5 years of experience supervising sanitation in a food manufacturing environment (required).
- 2Demonstrated ability to oversee sanitation processes and ensure compliance with GMPs and SSOPs.
- 3Proven experience leading and managing a sanitation team in a production setting.
- 4Proficiency in Microsoft Office for documentation, reporting, and communication.
- 5Experience with ERP systems for scheduling, recordkeeping, and operational coordination.
- 6Ability to train, guide, and develop sanitation personnel.
- 7Strong communication skills for cross-departmental collaboration.
- 8Ability to work third shift (4:00 PM – 1:30 AM, Monday–Friday) with occasional Saturday work.
- 9Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
- 10Experience in a union environment preferred.
- 11Familiarity with third-party auditing processes in food manufacturing.
- 12Experience coordinating with Maintenance, Operations, HR, and Quality teams.
