Overview
You will own care for medically complex cardiac patients on a 24-bed Cardiac Progressive Care Unit at Banner Estrella Medical Center in Phoenix. The unit handles cardiac drips, TAVR recovery, and post-ICU open heart recoveries. You will work nights, 7pm-7:30am, with 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratios. This role offers an 18% night differential and a $3/hour weekend differential. The hospital holds Magnet recognition and was named one of the most innovative hospitals by Newsweek.
What You'll Do8
- 1Assess cardiac patients on continuous monitoring, reviewing history, diagnostics, and labs, and reporting abnormalities to physicians.
- 2Build a plan of care with patient and family input, setting realistic goals and coordinating with the multidisciplinary team.
- 3Implement care per physician orders and nursing plan, delegating tasks to licensed nurses and other personnel.
- 4Evaluate patient response to care and teaching, revising the plan as needed to meet goals.
- 5Document assessments and interventions in the electronic medical record, noting physician orders accurately.
- 6Administer cardiac drips and monitor for TAVR recovery and post-ICU downgrade patients.
- 7Provide patient and family education on cardiac conditions and post-procedure care.
- 8Mentor new nurses and participate in shared leadership to improve unit outcomes.
Requirements7
- 1Current RN license in Arizona or compact state.
- 2BLS certification required.
- 31+ year of acute care experience in telemetry, ICU, PCU, or medical/surgical.
- 4Experience with continuous cardiac monitoring and cardiac drips.
- 5Ability to work 12-hour night shifts, rotating weekends and holidays.
- 6Bachelor's degree preferred.
- 7Professional certification preferred.
