Respiratory Therapist, Ventilator Management & Critical Care
Overview
You will own respiratory care for a 77-bed sub-acute and long-term care facility, managing ventilator-dependent residents and complex pulmonary cases. You will work within a collaborative interdisciplinary team, reporting to clinical leadership. RRT credential and 3+ years of experience in skilled nursing or hospital settings are core to this role. What You'll Do8
- 1Perform comprehensive chest assessments and respiratory examinations for a diverse resident population.
- 2Consult with physicians and interdisciplinary team members to develop, evaluate, and modify individualized treatment plans.
- 3Perform diagnostic testing, including lung capacity measurements and evaluation of blood gas levels.
- 4Administer respiratory therapies, including oxygen therapy, aerosol medications, and chest physiotherapy.
- 5Manage and monitor ventilator-dependent residents, including initiation of ventilator support when necessary.
- 6Conduct regular monitoring of residents’ respiratory status and ensure proper functioning of respiratory equipment.
- 7Educate residents and families on respiratory treatments, equipment use, and medication administration.
- 8Maintain accurate documentation of treatments, assessments, and resident progress in accordance with clinical standards.
Requirements5
- 1Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential from the National Board for Respiratory Care required.
- 2Current state licensure required.
- 33+ years of respiratory therapy experience preferred.
- 4Experience with tracheostomy care and ventilator management in a skilled nursing facility, LTACH, or hospital setting required.
- 5Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to effectively engage residents, families, and clinical teams.
