Respiratory Therapist RRT NICU PICU Transport | AdventHealth
Overview
You will own respiratory care for critically ill NICU and PICU patients during ground and air transport at AdventHealth Wesley Chapel. You will operate mechanical ventilators, manage high-frequency ventilation, and perform ABG analysis, all while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team. BLS, NRP, PALS, and RRT credentials anchor your practice. This role combines advanced clinical skills with the intensity of transport medicine, making every shift distinct.
What You'll Do9
- 1Perform ABG punctures, analysis, and arterial cannulation to monitor patient status during transport.
- 2Manage mechanical ventilators in conventional and advanced modes, including High Frequency Jet Ventilation and High Frequency Oscillatory Ventilation.
- 3Administer oxygen, Heliox, Nitric Oxide, and Nitrogen to achieve optimal respiratory support.
- 4Initiate and maintain airway devices, including endotracheal intubation, tracheostomy tube insertion, and trach tube changes.
- 5Respond to Code Blue emergencies, delivering CPR per American Heart Association guidelines.
- 6Conduct co-oximetry and transcutaneous CO2 monitoring to guide therapy adjustments.
- 7Facilitate lung expansion and bronchial hygiene using non-invasive and invasive techniques.
- 8Document procedures and charges accurately to meet quality standards.
- 9Support the respiratory care team by enforcing safety protocols and standard precautions.
Requirements9
- 1Associate degree in Respiratory Therapy or Cardiopulmonary Science (required).
- 2BLS CPR certification (required).
- 3RRT - Registered Respiratory Therapist credential (required).
- 4NRP - Neonatal Resuscitation Program certification (required).
- 5PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support certification (required).
- 6Experience with High Frequency Ventilation including HFJV and HFOV.
- 7Proficiency in ABG puncture, analysis, and arterial cannulation.
- 8Skill in managing patient transport ventilators and airway insertion.
- 9Knowledge of infection control standards and safety regulations.
