What You'll Do8
- 1Perform all basic modalities of respiratory care as prescribed by physicians, following department policies.
- 2Manage mechanical ventilators in collaboration with physicians, recommending adjustments to improve clinical condition and expedite weaning.
- 3Assemble, operate, and troubleshoot durable medical equipment and circuitry used in respiratory care.
- 4Conduct pulmonary and cardiology diagnostic testing as prescribed, ensuring accurate documentation.
- 5Assess patients and evaluate response to therapy, recommending plan of care modifications to physicians.
- 6Communicate with resource staff to formulate care plans and resolve therapy issues.
- 7Supervise department staff as needed.
- 8Deliver respiratory care across multiple settings, including NICU, PICU, and ED, as assigned.
Requirements8
- 1Associate or technical degree in respiratory therapy.
- 2Proof of passing the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT).
- 3Current state license in the state of practice.
- 4Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
- 5Knowledge of clinical techniques and equipment, typically obtained through one year of clinical experience.
- 6Effective human relations skills to interface with patients, families, and healthcare staff.
- 7In Nevada, must have Blood Gas Technologist certification.
- 8For Banner Registry positions, one year of acute care hospital experience within the last 12 months as an RRT.
