You will own the assembly and testing of prototype lithium-ion batteries that validate Sila's next-generation materials. Working in the Battery Operations group, you will prepare chemical mixtures, run battery cyclers, and maintain a clean lab environment. What You'll Do10
- 1Prepare and characterize chemical mixtures and electrode materials for lithium-ion battery assembly.
- 2Assemble prototype batteries and run them on battery cyclers in heated chambers to evaluate performance.
- 3Fabricate mechanical fixtures, perform tool preventative maintenance, and manage cable routing.
- 4Follow standard operating procedures while identifying and implementing process improvements.
- 5Wear full PPE including a respirator, and work safely with glove boxes and fume hoods.
- 6Record all work and data in the online database, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- 7Manage inventory and maintain a tidy, effective, and safe work area.
- 8Collaborate with Technicians, Research Associates, Engineers, and Scientists to troubleshoot and prevent issues.
- 9Communicate results clearly to support team troubleshooting and process correction.
- 10After training, work a 12-hour rotating shift to support 24/7 operations and work overtime as needed.
Requirements9
- 11+ years in a laboratory environment handling chemical materials and battery components.
- 2Experience with battery cyclers, glove boxes, and fume hoods in an R&D setting.
- 3Proficiency in using basic laboratory equipment and computer data entry.
- 4Ability to work carefully and safely with materials, including wearing a full respirator daily.
- 5Strong attention to detail and a systematic approach to experimental procedures.
- 6Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team.
- 7Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and shift schedules, including 12-hour shifts.
- 8Physical capability to lift up to 30 lbs, stand for extended periods, and perform repetitive hand tasks.
- 9Experience in ISO-9001 facilities or lithium-ion R&D labs is a plus.
