Process Design Engineer - Battery Materials
Overview
Lead the design of bulk material handling systems for large scale battery material manufacturing facilities. This role focuses on transforming next generation technology into robust manufacturing units. You will collaborate across teams to ensure safety performance and cost efficiency.
What You'll Do11
- 1Serve as main point of contact for process engineering inquiries focusing on conveying blending screening and packaging systems
- 2Execute design projects to close gaps identified in unit operation designs through detailed engineering
- 3Generate Heat and Material Balances P&IDs and Process Control Narratives for new plants and retrofits
- 4Lead process safety deliverables including HAZOP recommendations and MOC changes
- 5Identify capital project execution gaps and raise them to responsible parties for resolution
- 6Apply knowledge of ASPEN HYSYS and similar simulation tools for process modeling
- 7Develop preliminary equipment sizing and P&ID documentation
- 8Collaborate with research development and manufacturing teams to qualify processes for commercial production
- 9Support operational alarm management and safety system designs
- 10Travel to project sites and external design offices to support design reviews and commissioning
- 11Maintain a conscientious approach to complex problem solving
Requirements11
- 1Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering Mechanical Engineering or related field
- 26+ years of industrial experience in process design commissioning and operations preferring powder chemicals or advanced materials manufacturing
- 3Experience with bulk material handling pneumatic conveying blending screening and packaging systems
- 4Familiarity with regulatory safety environmental compliance including NFPA API ASME and OSHA standards
- 5Proficiency in process modeling software such as ASPEN HYSYS or equivalent tools
- 6Hands-on process design experience including heat and material balances and P&ID development
- 7Basic control scheme knowledge and advanced control strategies understanding
- 8Practical experience with safety critical instrumentation pressure relief systems and alarm management
- 9Ability to navigate MOC and participate in HAZOP studies
- 10Willingness to travel up to 50% to project sites and external design offices
- 11Conscientious curious and deliberate problem solver
