Recreation Worker
Overview
The William George Agency seeks a passionate Recreation Worker to lead therapeutic leisure activities and foster a nurturing environment for children. You will design engaging programs, mentor residents, and ensure safety across all recreational spaces. This role emphasizes relationship-building and supports diverse populations through inclusive, developmentally appropriate interactions.
What You'll Do11
- 1Supervise children during recreation periods and ensure compliance with safety protocols
- 2Design and implement therapeutic leisure activities aligned with treatment goals
- 3Mediate conflicts and conduct behavioral assessments using life space interviews
- 4Document participant engagement and communicate outcomes to treatment teams
- 5Coordinate with staff to maintain clean, safe environments in all facility areas
- 6Assist in transporting residents to off-campus activities and manage daily operational logistics
- 7Lead activity leadership initiatives and adapt programming based on resident needs
- 8Perform background checks and adhere to agency-specific safety policies
- 9Collaborate with treatment teams to develop individualized recreational plans
- 10Maintain accurate records and prepare incident reports promptly
- 11Support staff during peak periods by assuming additional caregiving responsibilities
Requirements11
- 15+ years experience building ETL pipelines with Spark and Airflow
- 2High School Diploma or equivalent credential
- 3Physical fitness required within one month of hire
- 4Valid NYS Drivers License
- 5Background checks including SCR and SOR clearances
- 6Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) certification
- 7Degree in Related Field preferred
- 8Flexibility for weekend and evening shifts
- 9Strong communication skills for diverse populations
- 10Knowledge of trauma-informed practices
- 11Commitment to confidentiality and ethical standards
