Recreation Therapist Program Manager
Overview
Shore Community Services seeks a skilled leader to oversee development programs and therapeutic recreation services. This full-time exempt position involves managing staff and ensuring equitable caseload distribution while maintaining compliance with state regulations. The ideal candidate has proven experience in therapeutic recreation and strong organizational capabilities.
What You'll Do11
- 1Perform QDIP duties across both sites and participate in intake processes
- 2Design and facilitate therapeutic recreation groups addressing physical activity wellness and social skills
- 3Conduct recreation and leisure assessments to identify client interests and functional abilities
- 4Maintain accurate central case records and provide monthly progress notes
- 5Develop community partnerships to expand leisure opportunities
- 6Train and coach developmental trainers on group facilitation techniques
- 7Implement inventory management systems for recreation supplies and adaptive equipment
- 8Coordinate special events like Summerfest and holiday parties
- 9Ensure confidentiality and report suspected misconduct according to corporate compliance
- 10Maintain a safe workspace and adhere to universal precautions
- 11Provide program design leadership and functional oversight of staff
Requirements10
- 1Bachelor's degree in Therapeutic Recreation or related field
- 2State of Illinois QIDP eligibility at time of hire
- 3Minimum one year professional experience with intellectual and developmental disabilities
- 4Minimum two years supervisory experience
- 5Valid driver's license and automobile liability insurance
- 6Close-toed shoes required
- 7Experience with Google Sheets and Microsoft Office suite
- 8Proficiency in MS Excel and word processing
- 9Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- 10Valid driver's license
