Quality Control Lab Technician - Paint Coatings Testing
Overview
You will run quality control tests on production batches, adjust formulas to hit specifications, and approve fills for shipment. You will work 90% in the lab and 10% on the floor at a coatings manufacturer in Wood Dale, IL. You will join a Quality team of 4, reporting to the Quality Manager. This contract-to-hire role builds your analytical and manufacturing skills with hands-on wet chemistry and color matching.
What You'll Do8
- 1Run viscosity, gloss, color, and physical property tests on production batches.
- 2Analyze results and calculate batch adjustments to bring products within specification.
- 3Verify batches meet ISO standards before filling and during the fill process.
- 4Prepare and approve final fill check panels for production.
- 5Document batch adjustments, fill checks, and test results in the QMS.
- 6Follow RCRA procedures for hazardous waste labeling, storage, and transfer.
- 7Collaborate with the Quality Manager on product approvals and process improvements.
- 8Maintain a clean, organized, and safe lab environment.
Requirements8
- 11+ year of Quality Control laboratory experience.
- 2Knowledge of wet chemistry techniques and viscosity testing.
- 3Strong attention to detail and documentation skills.
- 4Basic math skills: percentages, fractions, and measurements.
- 5Comfortable handling chemicals and hazardous materials.
- 6Ability to follow procedures and keep accurate records.
- 7Preferred: paint or coatings industry experience.
- 8Preferred: production or manufacturing support experience.
