Lab Technician, Coatings Testing
Overview
You will handle coatings testing in a Houston lab, owning data collection and reporting for client projects. You will prepare chemical mixtures and evaluate coated substrates under established protocols. The role sits on a small lab team within System One, supporting industrial R&D. It offers a 9-month contract with potential extension or permanent conversion.
What You'll Do8
- 1Test coatings and record performance data from coated substrates using Excel and lab notebooks.
- 2Prepare paints, pretreatments, and cleaners from chemical ingredients while following safety protocols.
- 3Organize and run experiments, then summarize results in charts and tables for project communication.
- 4Operate lab equipment to evaluate coating adhesion, durability, and other characteristics.
- 5Maintain accurate records of experimental conditions and outcomes for QA review.
- 6Follow SOPs for handling toxic chemicals and disposing of waste safely.
- 7Collaborate with senior technicians to troubleshoot test failures and adjust procedures.
- 8Ensure lab cleanliness and organize samples and reagents for daily workflows.
Requirements6
- 1Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a technical field such as chemistry or biology.
- 21 year of demonstrated laboratory experience.
- 3Computer literate in Microsoft Office products, especially Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- 4Ability to follow experimental protocols and preserve data integrity.
- 5Comfortable working with toxic chemicals while following OSHA safety practices.
- 6Capability to stand for extended periods during lab work.
