
QC Technician Machinist Job Berkeley Quantum Computing
Overview
QC Technician / Machinist will own quality control and precision machining at our Berkeley quantum computing R&D facility. You will inspect and fabricate components for quantum systems, working with CNC and CMM equipment. You will collaborate with engineers to ensure parts meet exacting tolerances. This role combines hands-on machining with detailed inspection, critical for advancing our quantum technology.
What You'll Do6
- 1Build and inspect precision components using CNC mills and lathes, ensuring tolerances down to ±0.0005 inches.
- 2Operate CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) to verify part dimensions and document results for R&D engineering.
- 3Design and manufacture fixtures and tooling to support quantum hardware assembly and testing.
- 4Lead incoming material inspection to verify compliance with engineering drawings and specifications.
- 5Debug and refine machining processes to improve yield and reduce waste for prototype runs.
- 6Drive calibration and maintenance of inspection equipment to uphold ISO standards within the lab.
Requirements5
- 13+ years of machining experience with CNC mills and lathes.
- 22+ years of QC inspection experience using CMM and optical comparators.
- 3Proficiency reading engineering blueprints and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
- 4Experience with SolidWorks or Mastercam for CAM programming.
- 5Ability to lift 50 lbs and stand for extended periods in a lab environment.
