PSM Engineer, Process Safety & Compliance
Overview
This role owns Process Safety Management across the site, ensuring compliance with OSHA PSM and EPA RMP rules. You'll lead PHA and LOPA studies, manage MOC programs, and drive corrective actions to closure. The site relies on you to coordinate the Risk Management process, including Bowtie analyses and Critical Control Management Plans. Working with a team of engineers and plant staff, you'll mentor less senior engineers to build their Process Safety expertise. This position offers the chance to lead corporate-wide safety initiatives and interface directly with regulatory agencies.
What You'll Do7
- 1Own the site's PSM program, ensuring full compliance with OSHA and EPA RMP regulations
- 2Facilitate Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) and Layers of Protection Analysis (LOPA) studies for all units
- 3Drive MOC process improvements, auditing the program and reviewing changes for safety impact
- 4Coordinate the Risk Management process, including entry and update of Risk events in the Register
- 5Facilitate Critical Control Management Plans (CCMPs) and Critical Control Verifications (CCVs)
- 6Mentor junior engineers in process safety, coaching them on PHA and LOPA techniques
- 7Lead process safety audits at other plants and contribute to corporate-wide initiatives
Requirements7
- 110+ years in chemical plant operations
- 25+ years managing Process Safety Management
- 3BS degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or Electrical engineering
- 4Intermediate computer skills including MS Office
- 5AutoCAD experience preferred
- 6Completed third-party PHA training program
- 7Proven leadership in driving safety culture and compliance
