Proofpoint Engineer, Email Security & MTA Migration
Overview
You will lead the migration from on-premises IronPort to Proofpoint cloud email security, owning the transition for a large enterprise. You'll design, configure, and maintain Proofpoint as a service, handling firewall rules, block lists, and quarantine operations. Your expertise in MTA and Proofpoint Messaging Security Gateway will ensure seamless email flow with minimal disruption. What You'll Do8
- 1Lead the migration from on-premises IronPort to cloud Proofpoint, ensuring zero email downtime

- 5Optimize MTA configurations and Proofpoint Messaging Security Gateway settings for performance

- 7Document migration processes and operational runbooks for future reference
- 8Troubleshoot and resolve email routing and filtering issues post-migration
Requirements8
- 15+ years hands-on experience with Proofpoint as an enterprise email security platform
- 2Expert knowledge of MTA and Proofpoint Messaging Security Gateway architecture
- 3Proven track record migrating from IronPort to Proofpoint in large environments
- 4Experience configuring Proofpoint firewall rules and managing block lists
- 5Strong understanding of SMTP, DNS, and email authentication (SPF, DKIM, DMARC)
- 6Ability to respond to quarantine and release requests efficiently
- 7Familiarity with email security best practices and compliance requirements
- 8Onsite presence in Washington DC is required
