Overview

Lead and drive completion of capital design and construction projects across CUNY campuses. Manage project dependencies and critical paths while ensuring quality facilities on time and budget. Oversee all aspects of project execution from initiation to closeout.

What You'll Do23

  • 1Identify and manage project dependencies and critical path
  • 2Develop conceptual plans and budgets for facilities projects
  • 3Create best practices for project execution and management
  • 4Draft and submit budget proposals and recommend changes
  • 5Plan, organize, and manage selection of architectural/engineering consultants
  • 6Prepare cost estimates and schedules for all capital projects
  • 7Participate in bid review and recommend consultant fees
  • 8Assemble bid documents and ensure adequate bidding process
  • 9Schedule project scope development and bidding timing with board meetings
  • 10Review bid submissions and provide recommendations
  • 11Ensure city and state authorizations and budget approvals before bidding
  • 12Update PMWeb system on project status relative to finances and schedule
  • 13Maintain weekly updates for Assistant Director
  • 14Prepare regular project management reports
  • 15Handle turnkey delivery of design and construction projects
  • 16Attend construction meetings to communicate with stakeholders
  • 17Manage scope changes and devise contingency plans
  • 18Negotiate contracts and approve change orders
  • 19Review and approve payment certificates to contractors
  • 20Understand project strategy and commitments
  • 21Monitor job site operations and lead completion
  • 22Demonstrate dialogue with project team regarding changes
  • 23Resolve construction contract disputes and claims

Requirements17

  • 1Bachelor's degree in engineering architecture or construction-related curriculum
  • 25+ years of design and construction management experience as a Project Manager
  • 3Experience with project management methodologies planning cost control
  • 4Understanding of building components and construction codes
  • 5Preferred: NY State Professional Engineering License or NY State Architecture License
  • 6Master's degree in Engineering Architecture or Construction Project Management
  • 7PMP Certification
  • 8Experience with NY State and NYC agencies and their regulations
  • 9Experience with NYC and State design and construction projects
  • 10Strong technical and analytical skills
  • 11Computer skills including email spreadsheets databases project management and presentations
  • 12Excellent written and verbal communication
  • 13Ability to multitask and work under pressure
  • 14Self and team motivator
  • 15Knowledge of capital and operating budgets
