
Project Manager, Electric Distribution Utilities
Overview
Lead high-impact electric distribution projects for a leading utility in Oakbrook Terrace, IL. You will oversee a portfolio of 3-5 projects with budgets up to $20M, coordinating with engineering, construction, and regulatory teams. Your work ensures reliable power delivery to 2 million+ customers. This hybrid role requires 3 days onsite weekly and offers a 12-month contract with likely extension. You will own project execution from design through closeout, directly influencing grid modernization initiatives.
What You'll Do8
- 1Drive project execution from initiation to closeout, managing schedules, budgets, and resources for electric distribution projects.
- 2Coordinate with engineering, construction, and permitting teams to deliver overhead and underground line projects on time.
- 3Track progress against milestones using MS Project and Primavera P6, reporting status to stakeholders weekly.
- 4Manage vendor contracts and procurement, negotiating change orders and ensuring compliance with utility standards.
- 5Lead risk assessments and mitigation plans, addressing field issues and regulatory requirements proactively.
- 6Facilitate cross-functional meetings with internal teams and external agencies to resolve design and construction conflicts.
- 7Oversee project documentation and financial tracking, ensuring accurate cost forecasting and invoicing.
- 8Ensure safety and quality standards are met across all project phases, conducting site visits and audits.
Requirements8
- 15+ years managing utility construction projects, specifically in electric distribution.
- 2Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
- 3Proven track record with MS Project and Primavera P6 for scheduling and resource planning.
- 4PMP or CPM certification preferred.
- 5Experience with overhead and underground distribution systems, including SCADA integration.
- 6Strong financial acumen with budget management of $5M+.
- 7Knowledge of NESC, OSHA, and utility construction standards.
- 8Excellent stakeholder communication, with experience presenting to executive leadership and regulatory bodies.
