Product Design Lead, AI & Software
Overview
You will own end-to-end design for AI and software projects at AE Studio, an LA-based development, data science, and design studio. You will turn abstract ideas into tangible products, working with founders and executives. You will collaborate with top 0.1% engineers, researchers, and PMs. This hybrid role blends product design, AI strategy, and entrepreneurial leadership. You will drive high-leverage projects from conception to launch, with access to internal Skunkworks and research partnerships.
What You'll Do6
- 1Lead the design process from conception to launch for AI and software projects, ensuring high-quality user experiences and impactful outcomes.
- 2Translate vague product ideas into testable design hypotheses, define design scope, and prioritize user experience needs with product managers and developers.
- 3Communicate design rationale clearly with demanding enterprise clients, aligning stakeholders and managing expectations.
- 4Design product-focused interaction models, wireframes, user flows, mockups, and working prototypes in Agile environments.
- 5Work closely with stakeholders and product managers to identify design opportunities that drive product growth and user adoption.
- 6Efficiently create and manage production assets for multiple devices and viewports.
Requirements10
- 17+ years of professional experience in product design.
- 2Proven experience in AI product development, agencies, startup environments, or early-stage ventures.
- 3Entrepreneurial mindset with a bias toward action, scrappiness, and experimentation.
- 4A specialized generalist who can go deep in at least one area of product design.
- 5Strong sense of what makes a product great and consistent good product judgment across domains.
- 6Strong understanding of technology, including LLMs, RAG stacks, and agentic workflows.
- 7Proficiency in using AI to make workflow efficient, leveraging tools like Cursor, Lovable, or MagicPath.
- 8Growth mindset valuing progress over perfection.
- 9Effective management of timelines and expectations.
- 10Strong communication: clear with clients, inspiring with teams, strategic with stakeholders.
Salary Insight
