Overview

Lead a 3-6 Montessori classroom at MKU Lorton Valley guiding children through independent problem solving and creative thinking. You will sustain an authentic Montessori environment, supervise assistants, and communicate Montessori principles to families and the community. You will contribute to a warm, respectful, nurturing setting that supports emotional, social, cognitive, and physical development.

What You'll Do6

  • 1Build a prepared, safe learning environment and deliver sequential Montessori lessons to foster coordination and independence
  • 2Plan annual curriculum topics and conduct parent conferences while maintaining clear written communications
  • 3Lead and supervise assistant teachers ensuring proper staff child ratios and high-quality group activities
  • 4Deliver regular progress updates, maintain development records, and report equipment or maintenance needs
  • 5Maintain confidentiality, professionalism, and positive disciplinary approaches in collaboration with staff and families
  • 6Attend staff meetings, participate in ongoing professional development, and share ideas with the team

Requirements8

  • 1Montessori 3-6 credential or 0-3 credential and a Four-year degree in Early Childhood Education or Child Development or related field with at least one-year full-time teaching experience
  • 2Ability to work well with others and strong oral and written communication skills
  • 3Infant/child CPR and First Aid certification
  • 4Must clear full background check and health screening
  • 5Must be legally authorized to work in the US and able to reliably commute or relocate to Lorton, VA
  • 6Capable of planning and delivering structured lessons aligned with Montessori and Reggio Emilia philosophies
  • 7Strong leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • 8Willingness to participate in ongoing training and professional development
