Patient Services Representative, Ophthalmology Front Desk & Customer Care
Overview
The Patient Services Representative II will own the front desk experience at Eye Doctors of Washington, greeting patients, verifying insurance, and scheduling in a multi-location ophthalmology practice. This role supports a team-driven environment with a clear career ladder and requires travel to other DMV offices as needed. You will work early mornings, late evenings, and weekends to meet patient and clinic needs and contribute to an exceptional patient experience.
What You'll Do15
- 1Greet and welcome all patients and visitors upon arrival to clinic
- 2Confirm accurate patient demographic and insurance information and update as needed
- 3Verify insurance eligibility and active participating coverage
- 4Collect copayments, deductibles, and balances accurately
- 5Schedule return appointments and set up reminder notifications
- 6Assist doctor, staff, patients and visitors in a professional manner
- 7Maintain confidentiality of all patient and staff information
- 8Keep reception area clean and organized
- 9Assist with inventory of retail items if applicable
- 10Support training of other front office staff as needed
- 11Travel between locations to support front office operations as required
- 12Handle inbound and outbound calls with appropriate etiquette
- 13Process incoming packages and route to internal recipients
- 14Perform duties with professionalism and courtesy
- 15Contribute to a culture of caring and service
Requirements10
- 1High school diploma or equivalent
- 21+ years’ experience in medical front desk or patient service preferred
- 3Compassionate demeanor with ability to build patient trust
- 4Calm, professional under pressure with strong communication skills
- 5Attention to detail and accuracy in all tasks
- 6Ability to work as part of a team and independently
- 7Knowledge of medical vision insurances preferred
- 8Basic computer skills; experience with NextGen, Microsoft preferred
- 9Willingness to travel between locations and work variable shifts
- 10Positive, energetic attitude and strong interpersonal skills
