Overview
This role provides instructional and behavioral support to students in special education settings at Hagginwood Elementary. You will assist teachers with classroom management and learning activities, working with individuals or small groups. Paraeducator II duties require a high school diploma or equivalent and passing a competency assessment or 48 college units. This position offers a stable schedule of 6 hours per day, 5 days per week, with benefits for eligible employees.
What You'll Do9
- 1Support teachers in special education classrooms, assisting with instruction and classroom management.
- 2Work with individual or small groups of students to reinforce learning and behavioral goals.
- 3Implement behavior plans and provide positive reinforcement to help students stay on task.
- 4Assist with clerical tasks such as preparing materials, taking attendance, and maintaining records.
- 5Supervise students during transitions, recess, and play field activities to ensure safety.
- 6Collaborate with teachers to adapt lessons for students with diverse learning needs.
- 7Document student progress and communicate observations to the lead teacher.
- 8Follow all district policies and procedures, including confidentiality and safety protocols.
- 9Build supportive relationships with students to foster a positive learning environment.
Requirements8
- 1High school diploma or equivalent (GED accepted).
- 2Successful completion of a competency assessment in reading, writing, and mathematics, or 48 college units (semester) to meet NCLB compliance.
- 3Proof of HS Graduation (diploma, transcripts, or equivalent) required.
- 4Resume showing clear evidence of required experience.
- 5May require a valid driver's license.
- 6May require a valid First Aid/CPR card.
- 7Compliance with district skill and competency requirements.
- 8Ability to work 6 hours per day, 5 days per week at Hagginwood Elementary.
