Elementary Paraeducator K-5
Overview
You will support K-5 students in general education classrooms, helping teachers deliver instruction and manage classroom activities. Working 2 hours per day with a team of educators, you will focus on literacy and numeracy interventions, reinforcing lessons, and building student confidence. What You'll Do9
- 1Assist the K-5 classroom teacher in delivering instruction to students in assigned classrooms.
- 2Implement instructional methods and practices to meet goals set by certified teachers.
- 3Use curricular materials and assessments to support literacy and numeracy interventions.
- 4Lead small group sessions to reinforce teacher-led instruction.
- 5Provide individual assistance to students, explaining errors and answering questions.
- 6Monitor student behavior in class and during outdoor activities.
- 7Communicate with teachers about student progress and behavior.
- 8Help students build self-esteem through positive examples and guidance.
- 9Operate classroom equipment, including computers, for instructional support.
Requirements9
- 1High school diploma or equivalent.
- 2Pass the District Instructional Assistant Proficiency Test in reading, math, and per NCLB.
- 32+ years of experience working with elementary students in a supportive role.
- 4Demonstrated ability to assist with literacy and numeracy instruction.
- 5Ability to manage small groups and maintain a positive learning environment.
- 6Strong communication skills with students and teachers.
- 7Ability to perform clerical tasks and operate classroom technology.
- 8Pass DOJ and FBI background checks and TB test within 60 days of offer.
- 9Complete district Mandated Reporter and Sexual Harassment training.
