Elementary Teaching Assistant, Charter School Support
Overview
Support elementary scholars at BelovED Community & Empowerment Academy Charter Schools in New York, New York. You will own daily classroom operations, reinforce lesson plans, and provide one-on-one assistance to students across K-5. Work with a school-wide team of PLC peers, reading and math specialists, and counselors to meet diverse needs. This role stands out with career-long coaching, research-based curriculum, and abundant planning periods. Base salary $34,500 - $39,500, plus bonuses and stipends, with potential earnings up to $41,500.
What You'll Do7
- 1Supervise K-5 students during instruction, transitions, and lunch to maintain a safe, focused environment.
- 2Reinforce lessons in math, reading, and writing by working with small groups and individual students.
- 3Track student progress on formative assessments and report data to lead teachers.
- 4Support students with special needs alongside reading and math specialists and counselors.
- 5Facilitate PLC collaboration by preparing materials and documenting student outcomes.
- 6Implement research-based curriculum materials to align with school-wide instructional plans.
- 7Communicate daily with parents and guardians regarding student behavior and academic progress.
Requirements6
- 1Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university, or enrolled in a Bachelor of Arts program with degree completion within 24 months.
- 2Hold a NJDOE Substitute Teaching Certificate.
- 3Possess a NJ Department of Education CE, CEAS, or Standard Elementary School Teacher License as a bonus.
- 4Experience working with K-5 students in a school or childcare setting.
- 5Familiarity with Google Classroom or similar LMS for tracking assignments.
- 6Ability to adapt lessons for varied learning styles, including ELL and IEP students.
