You will support certified teachers in a Title I elementary school, assisting with classroom instruction, student supervision, and material preparation. What You'll Do7

  • 1Assist teachers with classroom instruction and work with children during instructional activities.
  • 2Monitor children's behavior inside and outside the classroom to maintain a safe and orderly environment.
  • 3Set up classroom activities, organize assignments, and prepare homework folders.
  • 4Clean up and complete related tasks after daily activities.
  • 5Create bulletin boards, maintain classroom materials, and make copies.
  • 6Contact parents as directed by the teacher.
  • 7Attend meetings and participate in in-service training sessions.

Requirements10

  • 1High School Diploma or G.E.D., or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 2For Title I schools: 60 hours of secondary education or successful completion of the Paraprofessional Test.
  • 3For special needs: ability to obtain First Aid and CPR certification within 30 days of employment.
  • 4Valid Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.
  • 5Knowledge of basic first aid and child care principles.
  • 6Basic English language and grammar skills.
  • 7Basic mathematical skills.
  • 8Skill in monitoring and assisting children with activities, using office equipment, and maintaining order and discipline.
  • 9Ability to deal patiently with children and provide customer service.
  • 10Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally and perform physical tasks such as stooping, kneeling, and reaching.
