Educational Aide, Elementary School Support
Overview
You will assist Ashville Elementary teachers in delivering lesson plans, supporting students with academics, behavior, and organization. You will implement SEL strategies to build self-awareness, self-regulation, and interpersonal skills. You will work alongside a dedicated teaching team in a supportive school environment. What You'll Do10
- 1Ensure student safety, taking precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- 2Tutor and assist children individually or in small groups to master assignments and reinforce learning concepts.
- 3Teach social skills and support SEL strategies for self-awareness, self-regulation, and interpersonal skills.
- 4Supervise students in classrooms, halls, cafeterias, school yards, gymnasiums, and field trips.
- 5Provide extra assistance to students with special needs, including assistive devices and supportive technology.
- 6Assist in bus loading and unloading.
- 7Collaborate with classroom teachers to coordinate instructional efforts and implement behavior management plans.
- 8Type, file, duplicate materials, and report student needs and progress to educational specialists.
- 9Maintain confidentiality of student records and interact positively with staff, students, and parents.
- 10Promote good public relations through personal appearance, attitude, and conversation.
Requirements10
- 1High School diploma or GED.
- 2Appropriate certification/license from Ohio Department of Education.
- 3ESEA qualified endorsement.
- 4Knowledge of curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction methods.
- 5Knowledge of human behavior and performance, including individual differences.
- 6Skill in active listening and clear oral and written communication.
- 7Skill in managing student behavior and redirecting inappropriate behavior.
- 8Ability to work effectively with others and adapt to changing situations.
- 9Physical ability to sit or stand for extended periods, bend, kneel, crouch, and lift under 25 pounds.
- 10Dexterity of hands and fingers, close vision, and ability to adjust focus.
