Outreach Worker, Veterans Programs in Phoenix
Overview
The Outreach Worker owns community-based veteran engagement efforts at scale in Maricopa County, connecting veterans experiencing or at risk of homelessness to employment, training, and supportive services. You will build relationships with shelters, service organizations, and correctional facilities while operating in shelters, parks, libraries, and community centers. This role emphasizes trauma-informed, non-threatening outreach and hands-on field activity to enroll veterans into the Veterans Workforce Advancement Program.
What You'll Do10
- 1Build and maintain relationships with shelters and Veteran Service Organizations to create enrollment pipelines
- 2Travel into communities to recruit eligible participants and conduct outreach activities in shelters, encampments, and correctional facilities
- 3Design and deliver program presentations and distribute outreach materials to raise awareness
- 4Develop and maintain strong referral networks across agencies serving veterans
- 5Document outreach activities and participant contacts accurately while meeting eligibility criteria
- 6Represent Father Matters at Stand Down events, resource fairs, and hiring events
- 7Engage participants with multiple touchpoints to support enrollment and transitions to services
- 8Collaborate with staff for data collection, reporting, and program improvements
- 9Attend staff meetings and professional development sessions to stay aligned with program goals
- 10Ensure compliance with ADCRR and MCSO badge requirements to facilitate prison/jail outreach
Requirements10
- 1Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle with insurance for travel across Maricopa County
- 2No history of sex offenses or convictions related to child/adult abuse or neglect
- 3High school diploma or GED; associate or bachelor’s degree in social work, human services, workforce development, behavioral health, criminal justice, or related field preferred
- 4Ability to be badged for ADCRR and MCSO Jails
- 5Experience in community outreach, homeless services, veteran services, reentry services, workforce development, behavioral health, case management, or related human services preferred
- 6Strong communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills
- 7Comfortable conducting outreach in shelters, correctional settings, and outdoor environments
- 8Ability to work independently in the field while maintaining communication with program staff
- 9Mileage reimbursement available for approved program-related travel
- 10Pay: 19.00 per hour and benefits: dental, health, and vision insurance
