Ophthalmic Technician, Ophthalmology & Optometry Practice
Overview
Ophthalmic Technician will support ophthalmologists and optometrists across multiple subspecialties in a hospital or private practice setting at Eye Surgery Associates. You will perform patient preparation, pre-exam testing, basic vision screening, and assist with minor surgical and laser procedures. Travel to other locations may be required to support clinical needs. You will contribute to patient care in a collaborative, patient-first environment with opportunities for growth and career development.
What You'll Do10
- 1Build rapport with patients and families to ensure a comfortable visit
- 2Initiate patient evaluation including history and ocular findings in compliance guidelines
- 3Perform pre-exam testing such as visual acuity, tonometry, pupil evaluation, and color vision screening
- 4Assist with refractometry, keratometry, visual fields, OCT, A/B scans and ophthalmic photography
- 5Assist with minor surgical and laser procedures and contact lens fitting
- 6Maintain instruments, sterilize and prepare rooms for examinations and procedures
- 7Educate patients on medications and pre/post-operative care
- 8Open and close exam lanes and ensure equipment is maintained and charged
- 9Collaborate with physicians and clinical staff to support patient flow and safety
- 10Support inventory management and documentation in patient charts and records
Requirements10
- 1High School diploma or equivalent
- 2COA preferred but not required
- 3OSC preferred
- 41-2 years experience in a multi-specialty clinic preferred
- 5Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- 6Basic computer literacy
- 7Willingness to travel to other offices occasionally
- 8Ability to stand for eight hours and perform detailed tasks in a dimly lit setting
- 9Must be energetic with a positive attitude
- 10Background in ophthalmology or medical assisting is a plus
