Operations Manager, Distribution Center & Warehouse
Overview
Own the full operation of a high-volume distribution center in Fort Worth, TX, shipping apparel to wholesale customers across North America. You will lead 100+ hourly and management staff across receiving, inventory, and shipping, with direct accountability for cost reduction, productivity, and safety compliance. Report to the General Manager and work closely with cross-functional teams to implement WMS and automation upgrades. This role is the strategic backbone of a multi-billion-dollar supply chain, where your decisions directly impact customer satisfaction and growth.
What You'll Do9
- 1Build a 90-day plan to stabilize daily operations and meet same-day fulfillment targets for key wholesale accounts.
- 2Lead a team of 5+ managers and 100+ associates, hiring, training, and coaching to drive performance and retention.
- 3Own the DC budget, reducing operating cost per unit by 10% through process redesign and labor optimization.
- 4Deploy WMS upgrades and RF scanning tools to improve inventory accuracy to 99.5% and reduce picking errors.
- 5Enforce OSHA standards and company safety policies, cutting incident rates by 30% through weekly audits and training.
- 6Coordinate with corporate on facility expansion projects, including racking, conveyor, and automation installations.
- 7Design and track SOPs for receiving, putaway, and shipping, ensuring full compliance across every shift.
- 8Drive cross-functional projects with IT and Sales to resolve order exceptions and improve system integrations.
- 9Maintain facility equipment up to 50 lbs lifting, coordinating repairs and preventive maintenance with vendors.
Requirements10
- 110+ years managing a distribution center, with 5+ years in a leadership role over warehouse operations.
- 2Bachelor's degree in supply chain, logistics, or business; equivalent experience accepted.
- 33+ years applying Lean or Six Sigma methodologies to reduce waste and improve flow.
- 4Proven track record managing WMS such as Manhattan, Blue Yonder, or SAP EWM.
- 52+ years using RF scanners and handheld devices for real-time inventory tracking.
- 6Advanced Excel skills for pivot tables, forecasting, and reporting to corporate.
- 75+ years enforcing OSHA regulations and conducting safety audits.
- 8Experience with same-day fulfillment operations and direct-to-consumer shipping.
- 95+ years managing cross-functional projects and CI initiatives in a warehouse environment.
- 10Physical ability to stand, walk, and lift up to 50 lbs; comfortable in a non-climate-controlled warehouse.
