Operations Team Lead, Distribution Center
Overview
You will own shift-level execution across outlet, warehouse, and dock functions at a high-volume distribution center, coordinating workflow and serving as the on-floor expert. You will train and coach team members while reinforcing safety and SOPs, and you will step in for the Assistant Site Manager when needed. This role is a working lead position, not a supervisor, so you'll stay hands-on while keeping operations moving. You'll be the go-to person for real-time problem solving, equipment checks, and opening and closing procedures.
What You'll Do10
- 1Coordinate daily workflow across outlet, warehouse, and dock areas, prioritizing tasks to meet operational goals.
- 2Train and mentor team members on correct procedures, modeling SOPs and supporting new hire onboarding.
- 3Provide real-time feedback on performance and adherence to standards, reinforcing expectations on the floor.
- 4Monitor workflow for issues, escalate concerns, and propose solutions to management.
- 5Conduct daily safety checks of the distribution center and report findings to the manager.
- 6Inspect forklifts, balers, cart tippers, and other equipment daily, reporting any issues and using tag-outs as directed.
- 7Lead opening and closing procedures for the outlet and warehouse, ensuring a safe and clean environment.
- 8Assist customers on the sales floor with questions or escalations.
- 9Coordinate logistics activities within the distribution center, ensuring smooth material flow.
- 10Support shift continuity in the manager's absence by escalating issues and maintaining communication.
Requirements8
- 1High school diploma or equivalent.
- 2Forklift certification or ability to earn within 30 days.
- 32+ years in retail, warehousing, logistics, or recycling operations.
- 4Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel and familiarity with D365 or similar ERP systems.
- 5Strong written and verbal communication; bilingual English/Spanish a plus.
- 6Valid Texas Driver License.
- 7Ability to lift 50 lbs and walk warehouse floors and outdoor lots.
- 8Comfort working in non-climate-controlled environments with dust and temperature variations.
