Occupational Therapist I - Pediatrics & Sensory Processing
Overview
You will provide occupational therapy evaluations and treatment for children from birth to 21 years, focusing on feeding and sensory processing support at Children's Hospital Colorado's Highlands Ranch Therapy Care. This outpatient multidisciplinary practice serves a high volume of diverse pediatric cases, and you will collaborate with families, physicians, and schools to ensure continuous, family-centered care. You will join a supportive team of OTs, SLPs, and PTs, with clear advancement paths to OT II and OT III. This role offers structured mentorship, continuing education, and the chance to shape hospital-wide initiatives.
What You'll Do10
- 1Evaluate children from birth to 21 years with varied diagnoses using standardized assessments and clinical observations.
- 2Design and implement individualized treatment plans for feeding and sensory processing disorders.
- 3Collaborate with families, physicians, schools, and other providers to ensure continuum of care.
- 4Document evaluations and progress notes in EPIC within 24 hours, meeting department standards.
- 5Provide family education and training to support carryover of therapeutic strategies at home.
- 6Supervise therapy aides and students during designated patient care tasks.
- 7Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and contribute to patient care planning.
- 8Engage in professional development and seek mentorship for complex cases.
- 9Assist in achieving departmental financial targets through efficient scheduling and productivity.
- 10Integrate cultural competence and family-centered care principles into all clinical services.
Requirements10
- 1Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy from an ACOTE-accredited program.
- 2Current Occupational Therapist Registered (OTR) credential from NBCOT.
- 3Valid Colorado state license or eligibility to obtain within 30 days of hire.
- 4Credentialing through the Medical Staff Office within 3 months of employment.
- 50-2 years of clinical experience (entry-level accepted).
- 6Strong clinical reasoning and documentation skills.
- 7Ability to work 4x10 hour shifts at the Highlands Ranch location.
- 8CPR certification required (must obtain within 90 days if not current).
- 9Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for family collaboration.
- 10Familiarity with pediatric feeding and sensory integration preferred.
