Overview

You lead mechanical and electrical construction for a major project in Washington, DC, directing subcontractors and trade labor to deliver safe, on-schedule work within budget. Oversee HVAC, Plumbing, Electrical, Low Voltage, and Fire Sprinkler systems, coordinating all trades on a master set and BIM model. You report to the Project Superintendent or MEP Manager and supervise Assistant Superintendents, Field Engineers, and interns. Your decisions shape scheduling, logistics, quality, and staffing on a project worth up to $178K annually.

What You'll Do10

  • 1Drive schedule creation and sequencing of HVAC, Plumbing, Electrical, and Fire Sprinkler work to meet milestones.
  • 2Enforce safety program compliance with Turner standards and all applicable codes across the site.
  • 3Coordinate subcontractor activities to ensure conformance with plans, specs, and local/national codes.
  • 4Resolve field issues with owners and architects/engineers, from design clarifications to scheduling conflicts.
  • 5Lead project inspections, startup, commissioning, turnover, and punchlist for system handover.
  • 6Manage billing and monthly estimates of work in place, including payrolls and material invoices.
  • 7Direct the BIM coordination effort for all systems, securing approval from architects and engineers.
  • 8Develop recovery strategies to maintain project schedule and budget when disruptions occur.
  • 9Review project changes with the Project Engineer and keep daily records of trade contractor progress.
  • 10Supervise and develop Assistant Superintendents and Field Engineers, including performance appraisals.

Requirements9

  • 16+ years of mechanical/electrical/plumbing construction experience, plus a Bachelor's degree or 4+ years formal engineering or architectural experience.
  • 2Knowledge of building construction means and methods, scheduling, and cost control procedures.
  • 3Thorough knowledge of Mechanical and Electrical systems, including HVAC, Plumbing, Low Voltage, and Fire Sprinkler.
  • 4Proficiency with Building Information Modeling for system coordination.
  • 5Strong written and verbal communication; skilled in Microsoft Office suite.
  • 6Ability to read and interpret contract documents, drawings, specifications, and project schedules.
  • 7Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • 8Physical ability to climb ladders, work at heights, and lift up to 75 pounds.
  • 9Comfort working in construction environments with moderate to loud noise and outside conditions.
