Mental Health Support Specialist, Residential Care
Overview
Mental Health Support Specialists at RADIAS Health assist adults with mental illness and substance use disorders in a home-like setting, helping them achieve stability and independence. You'll work across 14 locations in the Minneapolis metro, collaborating with a care team to implement treatment plans and build rapport through daily interactions. This role offers a $21.50/hr rate for weekend shifts, with full-time schedules available across days, evenings, or overnights.
What You'll Do8
- 1Build rapport with each client through daily conversations and shared activities, spending most of your shift in direct client interaction
- 2Carry out care and behavior plans, tracking client progress and adjusting support based on their evolving needs
- 3Defuse potential crises by using de-escalation techniques and conducting risk assessments for suicidal or aggressive behavior
- 4Support daily living skills: hygiene, housekeeping, budgeting, and meal planning, involving clients in chores and grocery shopping
- 5Administer medications per RSS policy, coordinate refills, and update medication sheets under nurse supervision
- 6Coordinate recreational and social activities, including holiday events, and schedule client appointments as needed
- 7Document incidents and submit reports within 8 hours, ensuring compliance with care standards
- 8Transport clients in the community using your own vehicle, and contribute to facility maintenance and security
Requirements6
- 1High School Diploma or equivalent
- 2Valid driver's license, auto insurance, and access to a car for client transport
- 32,000 hours of experience supporting individuals with mental illness (preferred)
- 42,000 hours in Corporate Adult Foster Care (preferred)
- 5Ability to lift 40 pounds or more, climb stairs, and stand or walk frequently
- 6Comfort with frequent driving and sitting, plus occasional standing or climbing up to 10 flights
