Residential Support Specialist, Mental Health & Intellectual Disabilities
Overview
Provide direct care to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities or mental health diagnoses in residential settings. Work alongside a team to implement treatment plans, build daily living skills, and promote community involvement. CPR/First Aid and MAP certification required, with training provided. What You'll Do7
- 1Guide residents through daily skills building activities to foster independence
- 2Develop and implement individual treatment plans in collaboration with the care team
- 3Assist with meal preparation, money management, and doctor’s appointments to support daily living
- 4Partner with residents to improve health and wellness, achieve symptom stabilization, and restore skills impacted by mental illness
- 5Maintain staff-to-client ratio to ensure safety and compliance
- 6Build supportive relationships with residents through consistent, respectful engagement
- 7Provide side-by-side coaching to help residents socialize and engage in their community
Requirements6
- 1High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred
- 20-6 years related experience in direct support, child care, elder care, or mental health settings
- 3Valid Driver’s License
- 4Must be or become MAP certified
- 5Must be or become CPR/First Aid certified within five months of hire
- 6Experience with individuals with severe and persistent mental illness or substance use disorder preferred
