Overview

Upper Room AIDS Ministry seeks a skilled Medical Office Assistant to deliver exceptional care in Harlem. This role requires strong communication and teamwork to support patients and staff while maintaining high standards of service.

What You'll Do11

  • 1Build relationships with patients and staff to ensure effective collaboration
  • 2Design and implement efficient processes for clinical documentation using eClinical Works
  • 3Administer vaccinations and conduct health screenings per OMH guidelines
  • 4Update medication records to reflect current patient prescriptions
  • 5Handle urgent telephone inquiries and coordinate with psychiatric providers
  • 6Manage psychiatric crises by alerting the Wellness Director and applying de-escalation techniques
  • 7Participate in weekly team meetings and ongoing training sessions
  • 8Conduct outreach calls to remind patients of upcoming appointments
  • 9Maintain accurate patient records and ensure compliance with policies
  • 10Assist with phlebotomy and EKG procedures as needed
  • 11Provide bilingual support in Spanish or French when appropriate

Requirements10

  • 15+ years experience in medical assisting
  • 2Certification as a Certified Professional Coding Associate
  • 3Phlebotomy certification
  • 4EKG certification
  • 5CCMA certification
  • 6Strong knowledge of electronic health records
  • 7Proficiency in Spanish or French language skills
  • 8Ability to work flexible hours in a fast-paced clinical environment
  • 9Experience with behavioral health populations
  • 10High level of empathy and patience when interacting with vulnerable patients
