Medical Assistant II, Clinical Support & Patient Care
Overview
You will own patient preparation, exam room readiness, and clinical workflow support within the credentialed scope of practice at CaroMont Health's pain management clinic. Working alongside a care team of physicians and nurses, you will drive patient intake, administer vaccines and medications, and coordinate referrals and authorizations. This role stands apart through its dual focus on clinical precision and front-office ownership, requiring BLS certification and a current CMA or RMA credential. You will make patient interactions seamless from check-in to check-out, ensuring every visit runs on time and every record stays accurate.
What You'll Do9
- 1Prepare patients and equipment for exams and procedures, ensuring each room is stocked and sanitized before every visit.
- 2Perform patient intake, capturing vitals, updating histories, and documenting chief complaints in the EHR system.
- 3Administer vaccines and medications per provider orders, following BLS safety protocols.
- 4Collect and prepare lab specimens, label requisitions accurately, and arrange pickup with the laboratory.
- 5Return phone messages to patients and pharmacies, resolving clinical questions and prescription refills within 24 hours.
- 6Schedule appointments and obtain referrals and pre-certifications for procedures, tracking approvals to avoid delays.
- 7Maintain exam rooms and clinical areas, restocking supplies and disposing of biohazards per OSHA standards.
- 8Greet patients at check-in, collect co-payments, and update demographics to ensure smooth front desk operations.
- 9Protect patient confidentiality by following HIPAA guidelines in every interaction and document.
Requirements7
- 11+ years of clinical experience as a Medical Assistant with current certification, or less than 1 year with an Associate's Degree in Medical Assisting and current certification.
- 2Current BLS certification required.
- 3Active credentialing with one of: AAMA-CMA, AMT-RMA, NCCT-NCMA, NHA-CCMA, NHCWA, ARMA, NAHP, NRMA, or NCMA-RCMA.
- 4High school diploma or equivalent.
- 5Successful completion of the Medical Group competency assessment within 8 weeks of hire.
- 6Proficiency in EHR systems and basic computer skills for scheduling and documentation.
- 7Ability to work onsite in Charlotte, NC, full-time from 7:30am to 5:30pm.
