Medical Assistant, Gastroenterology Clinic
Overview
You will own direct patient care and clinical workflow support at Central Arizona Gastroenterology, a multi-provider practice in Mesa, AZ, handling 20+ patients daily. You will work alongside 4 physicians and 3 nurse practitioners, assisting with procedures, injections, and phlebotomy. You will maintain accurate documentation in eClinicalWorks EHR, ensuring smooth clinic operations. This role stands out for its collaborative team and focus on patient education.
What You'll Do7
- 1Room patients, take vitals, and document medical histories in eClinicalWorks EHR.
- 2Assist providers with endoscopic procedures and examinations, preparing instruments and maintaining sterile fields.
- 3Administer injections and perform phlebotomy, following clinic protocols and OSHA standards.
- 4Document patient data accurately, including medication lists and allergies, during each visit.
- 5Maintain exam rooms, restock supplies, and enforce infection control measures per CDC guidelines.
- 6Support patient education on procedures and follow-up care, using bilingual skills when needed.
- 7Coordinate with front desk and clinical team to optimize patient flow and minimize wait times.
Requirements6
- 1Certified or Registered Medical Assistant credential required.
- 22-3 years clinical experience, preferably in outpatient or specialty care.
- 3Hands-on experience with EMR/EHR systems and medical terminology.
- 4Strong patient communication and interpersonal skills.
- 5Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.
- 6Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
